Abstract

The error detecting device 6 detects a jam because of a difference of reflection between the circumferential surface of the drum 1 and the reverse side of the transfer paper, stops operation of copying paper, etc., also turns a release lever 19 by a motor, and turns a guide device 18 in the lower direction centering around a turning shaft 17. When the jam is stopped, the tip of the transfer paper P is in a position of the error detecting device 6, its rear end is pinched and supported by a paper feed roller 14, therefore, the roller 14 is lowered as the jam transfer paper remains pinched and supported, the transfer paper P is drawn, is smoothly separated from the circumferential surface of the drum 1, and is separated on a carrier part 15.
