Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform precise collation easily by dividing a retrieved registered picture and an objective picture into upper and lower parts, and by synthesizing and displaying them. CONSTITUTION:A retrieved picture on a microfilm is converted into a video signal through a TV camera 3, and an objective picture is also converted into a video signal through a TV camera 5. The TV cameras 3 and 5 output the video signals synchronizing with a synchronizing signal from a synchronizing signal generator 6, and a video synthesizer 7 divides those two video signals into upper and lower halves and then synthesizes one upper half and the other lower half. The resulting composite video signal is displayed on a display device 8, and consequently the two video pictures are displayed while the upper and lower halves are synthesized respectively. Thus, the registered picture and objective picture are displayed at the upper and lower parts respectively, so that both the pictures are collated with each other.
