Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a proton conductive solid electrolyte which can be formed into any dimension and shape and is safely applied at a high temperature, by changing a phosphate glass which comprises the oxide of phosphrus and the oxides of Periodic Table IIA Group element into a solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A porous fuel electrode film 2 is formed, by spreading a paste of an electrode catalyst metal such as Ni, Co, Cr or Pt or the like on the porous substrate made of ceramics, then by baking the substrate at 500-800 deg.C. For instance, a glass-slurry made of BaO and P2O5 whose mol ratio is 1:1 is spread on the substrate, then burned at the temperature of 1,000 deg.C, to form a phosphate glass 3 of several mum in thickness. A porous oxygen electrode film 4 is formed on the layer 3, in the same way as the fuel electrode 2. A hydrogen chamber 5 is provided outside the substant 1 so that hydrogen is in contact with the fuel electrode film 2 through this substrate 1; an oxygen chamber 6 is installed outside an oxygen electrode film 4 so that oxygen or air is in contact with the oxygen electrode film 4.
