Abstract
PURPOSE: To especially reduce the coefft. of thermal expansion of alumina-phosphate-borate glass, to relatively drop the melting temp. and to raise the transition point and hardness by adding MgO as an essential component to the glass.
CONSTITUTION: This glass has a composition ≥95wt% of which consists of, by wt., 9W36% P2O5, 8W45% SiO2, 3W42% B2O3, 18W32% Al2O3 and 6W32% MgO+ CaO (0W8%CaO). since quantitative importance is attached to MgO between said MgO and CaO, the coefft. of thermal expansion can be reduced especially. By said composition this glass contg. phosphate has physical properties such as about 30W 80×10-7cm/cm.°C coefft. of thermal expansion, about 630W740°C transition point, about 427W542kg/mm2 Knoop hardness and about 685W782°C sofening point, and it is suitable for various uses as a heat resistant material, an electrically insulating material, etc.
