Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically control a vehicle to a constant speed and simplify the structure of a vehicle speed controller, by regulating the degree of engagement of a friction clutch, which acts to perform stepless transmission control between the speed shift stages of a step transmission, so that the output rotational frequency of the clutch is equal to a set level.
CONSTITUTION: The rotational frequency of a transmission shaft 5, to which the torque of a transmission shaft 4 is applied through a friction clutch 6, is detected by a sensor 68. The output signal of the sensor 68 is applied to a summing point 76 through an F-V converter 70. A signal corresponding to an output rotational frequency level set in a control amplifier 75 and the signal from the sensor 68 are compared with each other at the summing point 76 so that the difference between the signals is determined. An electrical current of such polarity as to reduce the difference is applied to a servomechanism to change applied oil pressure on the friction clutch 6 to alter the degree of engagement of the clutch. The speed of a vehicle is thus controlled to a constant level. The changing control is steplessly effected within the range of vehicle speed change ratio between the speed shift stages of the step transmission of the tractor by altering the set rotational frequency in the amplifier 75.
