Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled specimen for inspection with naked eye, keeping the shape and color of the original specimen almost perfectly, by impregnating a specimen with a specific resin mixture, impregnating the surface layer of the specimen with a resin mixture containing a curing agent, gelatinizing the resin rapidly, and embedding the specimen in a trasparent casting resin.
CONSTITUTION: A specimen is impregnated with a mixture of (A) a polyester resin or an acrylic resin and (B) styrene monomer, an acrylic monomer and a polyhydric alcohol, and then the surface layer of the specimen is impregnated with a mixture of a polyester resin, an acrylic resin and a curing agent and gelatinized rapidly. The treated specimen is embedded in a transparent casting resin to obtain the specimen embedded in a transparent resin. The resin impregnated in the specimen gels slowly by the curing agent migrated from the surface layer, and accordingly, there is no foaming with heat of reaction, no contraction, no whitening or discoloration, no tendency of becoming trasparent, and no change of properties with heat of curing even in the preparation of a large-sized specimen. The process is effective to a specimen which is liable to lose its original shape, e.g., the internal organs of frog, fish, etc., mushrooms, etc.
