Abstract
PURPOSE: To more firmly tamp sand which is pressed firmly in an outer cylinder, by a method wherein a lower end of a vibrator and a lower end of an outer cylinder are coupled together through a shock absorber by means of a hydraulic cylinder for driving a plurality of inner cylinders.
CONSTITUTION: Through the raising of a piston rod 5b to an upper limit position with a hydraulic cylinder 5 for driving each inner cylinder actuated, vibration transmission means 20 and 22 are brought into an engaged condition to monolithically unite a vibrator 3 with an outer cylinder 1. After the outer cylinder 1 and an inner cylinder 4 are inserted into a ground with the vibrator 3 operated, the vibrator 3, charging sand from the inner cylinder 4, is vertically vibrated. Meanwhile, the upper position of the stroke of the hydraulic means 5 is set at a somewhat lower level than that of the initial position, and the piston rod 5 is elevated to the extent that the vibration transmission means are brought into no engagement. This causes the inner cylinder 4 to vertically move independently from the vertical movement by the vibrator 3. The outer cylinder 1 is pulled off gradually as sand in the outer cylinder 1 is tamped by means of the inner cylinder 4.
