Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to conduct a quantitative discrimination of a desired road surface in a non-contact manner, by a method wherein the road surface is photographed, distribution of a reflection luminance and a radiation luminance is measured through the scanning of the photograph picture to find a self-correlative function thereof. CONSTITUTION:A desired road surface part 2 to be discriminated of a road surface 1 is photographed by a camera 3 to form the negative picture of the road surface part 2 on a light transmitting monochrome negative film 4. A negative picture 5 of a road surface photographed on the negative film 4 is scanned in the direction of an arrow mark 6 using a microdensitometer. With this, the concentration each of a large number of regions 7 is found in a scanning direction 6 and at every equal intervals in the adjoining direction 6, and the reflection luminance distribution of the negative picture 5, in which the reflection luminance of the road surface part 2 is indicated in a shade of a monocolor, is found. A self-correlative function phi(r) of the reflection luminance distribution is found thereupon, and this permits the quantitative discrimination of a road surface condition in a non-contact manner.
