Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent effectively zinc dimethacrylate from sticking to the wall or a like area of a kneader, by adding a phenyl group-containing ketal compound to a solid golf ball rubber composition containing zinc dimethacrylate.
CONSTITUTION: To 100pts.wt. base rubber such as natural rubber or styrene/butadiene rubber is added 10W60pts.wt. zinc dimethacrylate useful as a crosslinking agent to impart excellent resilience and then further added 0.01W2pts.wt. phenyl group-containing ketal compound, e.g., dibenzylidene-sorbitol or benzylideneglycerin. In this way, sticking of zinc dimethacrylate to mixing rollers or the like during kneading can be prevented and solid golf balls excellent in hardness, durability, resilience, etc., can be obtained.
