Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of steam supplied from the outside of a system and contrive to conserve energy by a method wherein steam for desorption is produced by utilizing the waste heat of steam which has been used in a steam direct desorption step.
CONSTITUTION: Steam S is charged directly into an adsorption tank 1' in which a solvent has been adsorbed, whereby the solvent is desorbed and an adsorbent is regenerated. The solvent-containing steam obtd. after the desorption is brought into heat exchange with boiler water W in an evaporator 4 to form a condensate, which is further cooled by a cooler 6 and is separated into water and the solvent at a separator 7 by utilizing the difference in specific gravity. The boiler water is evaporated in an evaporator 4 at a reduced pressure, the resulting steam is fed to a compressor 5 by which it is pressurized and its temperature is raised, and then the steam is fed into the adsorption tank 1' as the steam S for desorption. In addition, at the time of starting the desorption step, since defficiency of heat supply occurs due to the consumption of the thermal energy of the steam in heating up the adsorption tank 1', steam S' from a boiler is supplied through a steam control valve 10 so as to maintain a constant steam pressure at the outlet of the compressor 5.
