Abstract

PURPOSE: To enlarge the capacity of engine cooling and thereby prevent abrupt temperature rise of an engine by allowing the cooling fan to operate in linkage with the 2,4 wheel drive changeover means and furnishing an additional cooling fan for four-wheel driving.
CONSTITUTION: The part-time system in a four-wheel drive car changes over from two to four wheel drive and vice versa at any desired time. Besides a regular cooling fan 2, an additional cooling fan of motor drive type 2' is furnished for four wheel driving. When the 2,4 wheel drive changeover lever 6 is turned into the four-wheel drive position and the 4WD switch 7 is operated, the cooling fan 2 in operation will continue operating because of the action of a control circuit 5 and, in case the fan 2 is off service, both cooling fans 2, 2' are put into operation parallelly. Thus the rate of wind delivery can be increased and the capacity of cooling enlarged.
