Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the coupling of a ceramic rotor of circular cross section to a drive member and enlarge the range of the rotor of high heat resistance, by uncircularly shaping the cross section of the end of the ceramic rotor, which is coupled to the drive member.
CONSTITUTION: The cross section of a ceramic rotor 1 is circularly shaped. The rotor 1 is used for the conveying roller of a high-temperature furnace or the like. Only the cross section of the end 3 of the rotor 1, to which a metal or ceramic-made pulley 2 or the like is coupled, is uncircularly shaped. The coupled end of the pulley 2 or the like is provided with a recess in which the end 3 of the rotor 1 can be fitted. The size of the recess is selected depending on the coefficient of thermal expansion of the end 3 to prevent the rotor 1 and the pulley 2 or the like from being damaged by high temperature. According to this constitution, the ceramic rotor 1 and the drive member are well coupled to each other and the range of use of the ceramic rotor excellent in heat resistance and high-temperature strength is enlarged.
