PURPOSE:To readily shrink-coat pipes having different diameters from each other by using the same sheet, by a method wherein a heat shrinkable sheet having chucks at both ends is spirally wound around an article to be coated, the adjacent chucks are mated with each other, and then said sheet is heated to shrink. CONSTITUTION:A continuous sheet 1, which has heat shrinkability in the longitudinal and lateral directions and is provided with a pair of chucks 11 and 12 to mate with each other at both longitudinal ends, is successively and spirally wound around the outer surface of an article 2 without any gap, and the adjacent chucks 11 and 12 are mated with each other. Then, the sheet 1 is made to shrink on heating to complete coating. Said method can be applied to articles having different sizes by changing the winding angle.
