Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture more easily a thermal head by a method wherein a heating element which forms a heat-shielding layer, a heating resistor, an electroconductive layer are formed sequentially on a heat conductive member is fixed to a substrate to connect an electroconductive layer to an electric power supply pattern.
CONSTITUTION: A glazing layer 13 is provided as a heat shielding layer on the circumference of a cylindrical heat conductive member 12 made from ceramics or the like, on which a resistance layer 7 composed of Ta2N or the like is formed. A lead pattern 8 which comprises gold, silver, etc. and is separated partially by etching treatment is provided and it is coated with a protective layer 14 composed of SiO2+Ta2O5 or the like to form an almost cylindrical heating element 9. This heating element 9 is fixed by an adhesive layer 15 of epoxy resin or the like to the groove of a substrate 11, an electric power supply introducing pattern 10' is provided on the substrate 11 and they are connected respectively through the lead pattern 8, solder 16 and the like.
