Abstract

PURPOSE: In an electric railways, to eliminate a need for laying transmission line of special high voltage in a long distance by providing adjacent substations with a substation having different rectifying phase number positioned therebetween and by utilizing the difference of suspention characteristics.
CONSTITUTION: A main substations 3, 4 with a transformer 1 and six-phase rectifier comprising a three-phase full-wave rectifier 2 receives current in a special high voltage from a current receiving wire 5. A compensation substation 6 has twelve-phase rectifier comprising a transformer 7 and two sets of three- phase full-wave rectifying circuit 21, 22 and receives current in high voltage from a current receiving wire 8. In this way the rectifying phase number of the compensation substation 6 is set in many and the output rating point is set in a suspension characteristic area. Therefore, even if the current capacity is constant at 1,000A, the minimum value of panta-point voltage is hightened than the conventional method and the voltage decrease of aerial wiring is compensated in use of the difference of the suspension characteristics.
