Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the fusing strength of frit glass by immersing a panel seal surface in an alkali solution, and washing the panel seal surface with water so as to remove the resin film, before either the surface is subjected to baking or metal film is formed on the surface. CONSTITUTION:A phosphor layer, a filming layer and a metal film are formed over the inner surface of a panel 1, in that order. A panel seal surface 1a of the panel 1 is immersed in an alkali solution 10 containing 3wt% of sodium hydroxide and 1wt% of sodium phosphate for about three minutes. The panel seal surface 1a thus treated is immersed in a water 11, and is slidden on cylinders 12 made of cloth, skin, rubber or the like in the direction indicated by the arrow so as to remove the resin film of the panel seal surface 1a. After that, the surface 1a is washed with water so as to remove the alkalis. As a result, the surface 1a is cleaned by removing the resin film and the alkalis. Consequently, frit glass fuses tightly to the surface 1a during frit baking, and the strength of the fusing part is increased.
