Abstract
PURPOSE:To permit to apply electric brake without imposing a burden on a generator within an allowable limit of an increase in temperature for a winding by reducing the field current of the generator in directly proportional to the rotational frequency of the generator at the time of generating brake for the generator. CONSTITUTION:With a braker 5 and a field braker 14 opened by a stop command, the field current will quickly attenuated by a field discharge resistor 15 and a disconnector 2 for generating brake is turned on when the voltage of a generator 1 decreases up to residual voltage to transfer a change-over circuit 12 to a firing angle control circuit 16 from an AVR10. When the rotational frequency decreases by mechanical loss or the like during the above period and the rotational frequency decreases enough to apply generating brake, the breaker 14 is again turned on. Cooling effect is still high even for a self-ventilating generator at the initial stage of generating brake application. Therefore, braking effect is increased by flowing a braking current up to some extent of the rated current of the generator 1 and speed is detected by a speed generator 7 as the rotational frequency decreases and the field current is decreased in directly proportional to speed.
