Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a lens with a high refractive index by copolymerizing 2,2-bis (4-acryloyloxypolyethyleneoxyphenyl)propane with neopentyl glycol diacrylate in the presence of a heat curing type polymn. initiator or an ultraviolet curing type polymn. initiator. CONSTITUTION:2,2-Bis(4-acryloyloxpolyethyleneoxyphenyl)propane represented by formulaIis copolymerized with neopentyl glycol diacrylate represented by formula II in the presence of a heat curing type polymn. initiator and/or an ultraviolet curing type polymn. initiator to obtain a lens. Since the resulting thermosetting resin is used, this plastic lens is superior to a plastic lens obtd. by polymerizing methyl methacrylate in crazing resistance, and polishing after the copolymn. is unnecessary because of the high transferragility.
