Since this electromotive force is in a constant relation with the logarithm of an oxygen partial pressure ratio, the relation between the electromotive force of the ion exchange resin layer to be used and oxygen partial pressure is determined beforehand, and the corresponding oxygen concn. is determined from the measured electromotive force. Thereby, the oxygen concns. are measured at ordinary temp. or with relatively low heating without requiring high temp. heating.
