Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a surface acoustic wave oscillator where the oscillation frequency is adjusted easily, by forming a recrystallized layer on the surface of a glass substrate and by providing an exciting electrode stuck onto this layer and a grating reflector recrystallized into an array. CONSTITUTION:A recrystallized layer 2 is formed on a part of the surface of a glass substrate 1 consisting of Pb3Ge3O11 or Pb5Ge3-x SixO11 (0<X<=1) by laser annealing, and an exciting electrode 3 is stuck onto this layer 2. Since the recrystallized layer 2 has a piezoelectric property, the electrode 3 driven electrically to generate surface acoustic waves. A grating reflector 4 which reflects elastic surface waves propagated on the surface of the substrate 1 is arranged in an array. The reflector 4 is obtained by recrystallizing the surface of the substrate 1 by laser annealing or the like, and optional dimensions and form are given to the reflector 4 easily, and thus, the oscillation frequency of the surface acoustic wave oscillator is adjusted easily.
