Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the circuit constitution, by individually modulating and transmitting >=2 optical signals different in wavelength in one optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:An integrated circuit 12 controlling the operation of an optical integrated circuit 11 and a light emitting element 13 generating light with >=2 different wavelengths, e.g., a white light LED and an optical waveguide 14 for the element 13 are provided in the optical integrated circuit 11. Two or more optical elements 15-23 which absorb the light of specific wavelength, e.g., liquid crystal are provided in the waveguide 14, the optical elements are connected with the integrated circuit 12 and a lead wire 24 and the degree of absorption of the respective transmitting lights can be controlled by this. The output light from the optical waveguide 14 is transmitted to another device with an optical guide 29. On the other hand, an input signal from the optical guide 30 is converted into an electric signal with photodetectors 32-34 generating output with specific wavelength and transmitted to the integrated circuit 12.
