Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head having stable typing quality and high reliability with low power by forming the thickness shape of an electrode layer of the part contacted with a heater in a special shape. CONSTITUTION:A stepwise difference is formed of electrode layers 2 and 3 so that a heater 1 can be connected with a heat sensitive sheet 7 via a protective film 4. The gap 6 can be set much smaller than the conventional thermal head structure, the loss of transferring heat due to the gap 6 is very low to decrease the power for typing, thereby stabilizing the typing quality and suppressing the deterioration in the periphery of the heater and reducing the size of the thermal printer.
