Abstract
PURPOSE:A cosmetic having good spread in use, comprising an alpha-mono(methyl branched alkyl)glyceryl ether as an emulsifying agent and water-insoluble inorganic or organic powder. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic comprising 0.1-10wt% based on total composition of a compound shown by the formula (m is an integer of 2'14; n is an integer of 3- 11, m+n is 9-21) and 0.1-20wt% based on total composition of water-insoluble inorganic or organic powder (e.g., talc, titanium oxide, bentonite, silk powder, nylon powder). The compound shown by the formula is liquid at room temperature, chemically stable, has improved emulsifying properties and no stimulation to the skin, and suitable as an emulsifying agent for a cosmetic. The blend of the compound with the powder gives a cosmetic having good spread free from defects. The compound shown by the formula is preferably used as a W/O type emulsifying agent together with a metal salt of 10-22C fatty acid and an inorganic salt or organic salt.
