PURPOSE:To perform high-speed printing operation and to diagnose an interface by checking print information by an interface part while writing the print information in a print data buffer. CONSTITUTION:Print information from a host device is written in a print data buffer 4, from which one line of information is sent to a microprocessor side to start printing the information as much as one line. In this case, an interface part is so constituted that a check is made while the print information is written in the buffer 4. Then, the microprocessor side reads the contents of an address register 5, the buffer 4 and a register 2. Consequently, the sequence of data transfer between the host device and interface part is simulated between the processor and interface part and a diagnosis of the interface is made.
