Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve a magnetic resistance head with high sensitivity at no-bias, by the construction where currents flow in zig-zag and forming nonconductive or high resistance magnetic film between films of a magnetic resistance effect film material. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic resistance effect films 23, 14, 25 are made of a material such as permalloy with a slope to a tape sliding surface, and connected electrically, allowing a current I to flow from lead electrodes 14, 14' in zig-zag. Thus, the length between electrodes of the films 23, 24, 25 can be extended. Magnetic thin films 31, 32 of nonconductive or high resistance material are formed to implant between gaps of the films 23, 24, 25. Although the magnetization easy axis of the magnetic resistance effect films is the same direction as the current I lengthwise before the films 31, 32 are formed, the lengthwise direction of the entire magnetic film is made the same direction as the tape sliding surface by forming the films 31, 32. Thus, the direction of magnetization M can be made the same direction as the tape sliding surface.
