Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve excellent slow reproduction by holding the relative speed between the moving speed of a tape and the turning speed of a rotary head invariably constant. CONSTITUTION:A reference signal generator 8 is provided which generates a reference signal for control over the speed of a cylinder motor 3. From the cylinder motor 3, signals showing rotary phases of rotary magnetic heads 11a and 11b are obtained and the period of the intermittent movement of a tape, i.e., a show ratio is determined. The tape 1 is moved by some minute distance and a certain time after a control signal recorded at the edge of the tape is reproduced by a control head 4, a tape feed signal generator 6 is reset. The said operation is repeated to feed the tape intermittently, thus realizing slow motion reproduction.
