Abstract
PURPOSE: A thermophilic bacterium in bacillus is continuously cultured under a specified dilution to produce cell bodies of high content of glucokinase per unit cell body.
CONSTITUTION: A thermophilic bacillus in bacterium capable of producing glucokinase, e.g., bacillus stearothermophilus ATCC 7953, ATCC 8005, ATCC 10149, or NCA 1503, is subjected to continuous cultivation wherein the dilution is set so as to satisfy the equation[D is dilution (1/hr); μmax is the maximum growth rate of the bacterium under the conditions of the continuous cultivation (1/hr)]and the temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen concentration are preferably set to 40W75°C, 4.5W9.0 and higher than 0.5ppm respectively.
