EXAMPLE: O-Ethyl S-n-propyl S-(4-chloro-6-methylpyrimidin-2-ylmethyl)phosphorodithiolate.
USE: An insecticide, acaricide and nematocide capable of exhibiting improved activity against various injurious insects with low toxicity without the fear of environmental pollution.
PROCESS: A 2-(halogenomethyl)pyrimidine expressed by formula II (Hal is halogen), e.g. 4-chloro-2-(chloromethyl)-6-methylpyrimidine, is condensed with a salt of dithiophosphoric acid e.g. sodium O-ethyl S-n-propyl dithiophosphate, expressed by formula III (M is alkali metal or ammonium radical) to give the compound expressed by formulaI.
