Abstract
PURPOSE: To lower the costs of machining and to improve the dimensional accuracy of sintered forgings by subjecting a powder molding to hot coining right after hot sintering and forging then to air cooling.
CONSTITUTION: A powder molding is heated and is forged to a prescribed shape by using a forging press. Thence, the forging is hot-coined by using a press machine or the like having coining dies in the state of small deformaton resistance right after forging, and it is air-cooled. It is then finished to a specified size by finish grinding. According to this method, the dimensional accuracy of the sintered forgings such as connecting rod is improved.
