Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having superior wear resistance and capable of always forming a clear image even if copying is continued many times, by coating carrier cores with a titanium coupling agent and a fluoropolymer in succession. CONSTITUTION:Carrier cores such as iron powder or SiO2 powder having about 50-1,000mum grain size are mixed with a titanium coupling agent represented by the formula (where OR is an alkoxy group; X is a fatty acid group, a phenol group, an alkyl group or a hydrocarbon group; a is 1-5; and b is 1-3), e.g., isopropyltriisostearoyl titanate to intermediately coat the carrier cores with the coupling agent. A fluoropolymer such as polyvinyl fluoride is dispersed in an org. solvent, sprayed on the cores, dried, and baked to form outer coats made of fluoropolymer. Thus, a coated carrier composition for electrophotography is obtd.
