CONSTITUTION:A light beam 5 is incident to the entire aperture part of a convergent lens 10 from below so that an optical axis 10a and a center axis 5a are coincident with each other, and this light beam 5 is reduced through the convergent lens 10 to be focused on a disk 1 as a fine spot. Light diffracted by a pit 2 is made incident to a four-split type photoelectric element 11 which has a through-hole 11a concentric with the convergent lens 10 at the upper position of the convergent lens 10. Its outputs are synthesized to obtain a tracking error signal and a focus error signal is also obtained by a differential photoelectric element 9.
