Abstract
PURPOSE:To omit a back electrode of high voltage and a high voltage terminal by using a static magnetic field for the first deflection system which is formed at the inner front of the phosphor screen of a flat CRT. CONSTITUTION:An electron gun 4, a horizontal and vertical deflection means 6, a target electrode 5, and a phosphor screen 2 are placed inside a flat CRT. At the same time, a pair of permanent magnets 7A and 7B, which are magnetized in the direction of their thickness respectively, are arranged on both sides of the inner front of the phosphor screen 2 so that opposite magnetic poles face each other in relation to the direction of horizontal scanning on the phosphor screen 2. The electron beam, which is emitted from the electron gun 4 and deflected by the horizontal and vertical deflection means 6 (second deflection system), is deflected toward the phosphor screen 2 by the static magnetic field of the permanent magnets 7A and 7B (first deflection system). Accordingly, a back electrode which has been so far installed to generate the electrostatic field for the first deflection system can be omitted together with a subsequently required high voltage terminal.
