Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled flame-retardant composition, obtained by incorporating ammonium polyphosphate and a paraffin with polybutylene terephthalate resin, and having greatly improved mechanical properties and appearance due to the uniformly dispersed ammonium polyphosphate.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. polybutylene terephthalate is incorporated with 1W 10pts.wt., preferably 2W6pts.wt., ammonium polyphosphate, and 0.01W1pt.wt., preferably 0.05W0.7pt.wt. paraffin. A paraffin having a number-average molecular weight of 250W5,000, preferably 300W4,000, measured by the vapor pressure osmometry is used as the paraffin, and paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, etc. may be used.
