Abstract
PURPOSE: A composition, prepared by incorporating an alkoxysilane compound containing a mercapto group, etc. with a quaternary ammonium salt and a halogen-containing polymer, grafting the alkoxysilane compound onto the polymer, and bringing the graft polymer into contact with moisture, and capable of forming a crosslinked material having improved mechanical characteristics and heat resistance by curing vulcanizing at a low temperature.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. halogen-containing polymer is incorporated with 0.01W 0.05mol alkoxysilane compound, expressed by the formula HS-R-Si(OR')nY3-n [R is (CH)n or the formula; R' is 1W4C alkyl, acetyl, etc.; Y is alkoxyl, halogen, etc.; n is 1W3] or the formula R1R2N-Si(OR')nY3-n (R1 and R2 are H, CnH2n+1, etc.), and having mercapto or amino groups and 0.01W0.05mol quaternary ammonium salt, particularly tetrabutylammonium hydroxide, and the resultant mixture is kneaded at 100°C or below to graft the alkoxysilane compound onto the polymer. The graft polymer is then brought into contact with water alone or containing a silanol condensing catalyst and easily crosslinked at 80°C or below.
