Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [X is H or a group capable of forming active disulfide bond with the adjacent S; Y is amino or imino group reaction residue of cytotoxic substance; Z is H or monovalent cation; W is bivalent organic group; R1 is H or 1W4C alkyl; R2 is the α-side chain of an α-amino acid (except the group containing a carboxyl group); m is an integer 1W4; n is an integer 5W 1,500; p and q are 0W1,500].
EXAMPLE: A combination of sodium poly-L-glutamate-PDM. [PDM is p[N,N-bis(2- chloroethyl)]phenylenediamine hydrochloride].
USE: An antitumor agent or a substance for preparing a target directing drug, e.g. an antitumor agent which is a combination of an antitumor immunoglobulin with the compound of formula I.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II (R3 is alkyl, aryl, etc.) is reacted with a cytotoxic substance, and the disulfide bond of the reaction product is cleaved reductively to give the compound of formula I in which X is H.
