PURPOSE:To form a program with the best sequence which corresponds to an optional selected function, by rewriting the contents of an RAM by reading the contents of a desired function control blocks among function control blocks according to switch operation. CONSTITUTION:When a data rewriting switch is operated, respective control blocks 10a, 10b... of a control block 10 are read out successively by an RAM control block 13, an arithmetic circuit 15, etc., and patterns showing their symbols are displayed on a display part. When an operation function change switch is operated over a look at the display, a code block C0 in a code RAM11 is rewritten and blocks C1... are also rewritten sucessively to set up the best program, which corrsponds to an optional function and does not contain any unnecessary sequence, in the RAM11. Thus, an electronic timepiece uses many sequence combinations properly according to selected functions and sets up a program with the best sequence corresponding to an optional function.
