Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce distortion due to an optical system by achieving wide-area lighting by refracting a light beam gradually by providing at least two curved surfaces in front of the light emission end of a light guide. CONSTITUTION:The tip surface 10a of a light guide 10 is made into a concave surface and a concave lens 11 is arranged in front of it. This results in that light emitted from the light guide 10 through the concave lens 11 is equivalent to light incident to a concave lens 12 in parallel to the optical axis and passed through the concave lens 12 and concave lens 11. In this lens system, the light beam is reflected gradually by two concave parts 12a and 11a to refract the light beam with incident light height (h) at an angle omega. Therefore, the increase rate domega/dh of the omega when the (h) increases never increases rapidly as the (h) increases as compared with the refraction of one concave surface 2a. Namely, the distortion of the lens system is less than that of a lens system composed of one concave lens. Thus, the distortion resulting from the optical system is reduced.
