Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the dehydrating effect and enhance the separating property of a dehydrated cake by a method wherein a belt press type dehydrator for sludges is composed of the first dehydrating part and the second dehydrating part which incorporates filter cloths having gas permeabilities lower than those of the filter cloths used in the first dehydrating part.
CONSTITUTION: The dehydrator consists of the first dehydrating part a and the second dehydrating part b. The dehydrating part a is provided with loop formed upper and lower filter cloths 21, 28 traveling in the direction of the arrow. The sludge A to be treated is supplied to a gravity dehydration part 29 on the filter cloth 28, then it is dehydrated with a dehydrating pressure of up to 1kg/cm2 while meandering between rollers in a reduced-pressure dehydration part 30 in the condition of being clamped between the filter cloths 21, 28 and is discharged into the dehydrating part b as a primary dehydrated cake B. The dehydrating part b is provided with the filter cloths 51, 56, which are sequentially traveled in the direction of the arrows to be brought into contact with a dehydrating drum 49, and a press belt 58 traveled on the circumferential surface of a tension roll 57. The cake B is further dehydrated under a dehydrating pressure of not lower than 1kg/cm2 by the belt 58, and it is discharged as a secondary dehydrated cake C.
