第1図はTN液晶パネルの構造断面図を表わす。
第2図は従来の方法による、−上下偏光板の偏光方向を
互いに直交して配置したTN液晶パネルと面発光素子で
あるEL素子を組み合わせた電気光学的表示装置の構造
断面図を表わす。第3図は第2図に示される従来の電気
光学的表示装置の表示パターンの一実施例であり、斜線
部分Aは暗い部分、白紙部分Bは発光部分を表わす。第
4図は本考案による表示装置の一実施例の構造断面図で
あり、TN液晶パネルの上下偏光板の偏光方向を平行に
配置している。第5図は本考案による表示装置の表示パ
ターンの一例であり、斜線部分Cは暗い部分、白紙部分
りは発光部分を表わす。第6図は第5図の本考案による
表示装置に必要なEL素子の発光部分のパターンを表わ
す。(斜線部E)。
