Various methods of controlling rapid preheating have been proposed in the past, but all of these methods apply a voltage higher than the rated voltage to improve the start-up, and also prevent the glow plug from melting due to changes in the resistance value of the glow plug. It was designed to detect and control temperature isodynamically. Therefore, materials with a large rate of change in resistance with respect to temperature (for example, Ni, pe-Ni
) I needed to make a glow plug.

However, in general, within the temperature range that the glow plug should maintain, the rate of change in resistance with respect to temperature is small, the temperature detection accuracy is poor, and accurate control is difficult. In addition, the durability of the material having a large resistance change rate is inferior to that of Ni-Cr, which has a small resistance change rate, which has caused problems. Furthermore, even after the glow plug reaches a certain temperature after rapid preheating, in order to maintain that temperature, a dropping resistor is used to reduce the voltage applied to the glow plug to the rated value to prevent the glow plug from blowing out and to maintain a constant temperature. This drop resistor has a large loss, which has been a problem from an economic standpoint.

In the device of the present invention, the rate of change in resistance with respect to temperature of the glow plug made of a durable material is sufficiently small within the range to be controlled, so that the amount of heat generated by the glow plug is 2 times that of the applied voltage.
The present invention is characterized in that the amount of heat generated by the glow plug is calculated from the voltage applied to the glow plug, and the power supply to the glow plug is controlled on and off based on this value. That is, first, the rating of the glow plug is set to 50 to 80% of the battery voltage, and 100% of the battery voltage is applied to rapidly raise the temperature of the glow plug. Therefore, the amount of heat provided by the glow plug increases rapidly. On the other hand, in a glow plug made of a material whose resistance value hardly changes with temperature, for example Nl-Cr, the amount of heat generated from the glow plug is calculated by dividing the input power by dividing the square of the applied voltage by a constant (resistance value). It can be found by detecting and integrating this over time. Now, assuming that the voltage applied to the glow plug is 'e-Va' and the required preheating time (il-1), the amount of heat generated per unit Q is determined as follows.

) Obtain a voltage proportional to the glow power consumption WG. By inputting this to an integrator consisting of resistors R8 to R5, capacitor CI, and operational amplifier OP and integrating it over time, a voltage Q proportional to the amount of heat generated is obtained, which is then input to the negative side input of comparator COMP1 via diode Drk. Add. At the positive input of this comparator COMPI, the integrator output Q, which is proportional to the constant voltage v2 created by the resistor R1 and the Zener diode ZD and the amount of resistance heat, increases, and at time t, Q, =
Q, the output of the comparator COMPI becomes 0, and the transistor TR is turned off through the resistor R0 and diode D2. As a result, the relay contact 4bi is opened and the supply of electricity to the glow plug 5 is stopped.

Furthermore, at the same time as the transistor TR1 turns off, the differentiating circuit composed of the capacitor C2, the resistor R1°, and the diode D3 turns the transistor TR2 off the capacitor C.

In step 2), the glow plug is heated and on/off control is performed as shown in FIG. Therefore, if the average heating time of the glow plug is set to an optimum value by the set value of the on-off time, there is no need to provide a special circuit for preventing the glow plug from blowing out.
