Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the solidification of molten metal in the preceding end part of a charging plug and to perform continuous casting work stably by providing a heater in the specific position on the outside surface of a mold in horizontal continuous casting machine. CONSTITUTION:An induction heater 7 by high frequencies or low frequencies is mounted in the suitable position A1-A1 near the side of the preceding end part 2a of a charging nozzle 2 on the outside circumferential surface of a mold 3 in a horizontal casting machine. During the continuous casting work the formation and growth of a tongue-like solidified material 5 formed in the preceding end part 2a of the plug 2 is prevented by the heating effect of this heater 7. Thus the connection of the front end part of the area B1-B2 where the solidified shell 4 grown in the mold is formed and the material 5 is obviated and since a molten pool 6 exists at all times, the breakdown of the continuously cast ingot on the outside of the mold occuring in the connection of the material 5 and the shell 4 is prevented and the horizontal continuous casting work is carried out stably.

In conventional horizontal continuous casting machines, the tundish and the mold are usually integrally joined, and a method is adopted in which the slab is pulled out intermittently, resulting in a problem of low casting efficiency. The reason for this is that continuous drawing was not possible due to the phenomenon of the mold and slab sticking together.

In this proposal, as shown in Fig. 1, a tundish 1 and a mold slot are arranged separately and independently, and a companion pouring plug 2 is provided to pour molten steel from the tundish 1 into a mold 3.
is inserted into the mold 3 in a sealed manner. In addition, a lubricant supply device for lubricating the space between the slab and the mold surface, and a mold vibration device for finely vibrating the mold filter parallel to the slab drawing direction to effectively apply the lubricant (both This is a horizontal continuous casting machine that has a continuous casting machine (not shown) that continuously pulls out slabs. However, this proposal has a problem in that it is difficult to continuously draw slabs and perform stable continuous casting operations for the reasons described below.

That is, in the proposed method, the molten steel poured into the mold 3 is cooled and solidified from the mold surface side, and the solidified shell 4 gradually grows. In addition, the pouring plug 2 is wetted by the molten steel, solidified matter adheres to the tip 2a of the pouring plug 2 where the flow rate of the molten steel is relatively slow, and the solidified matter grows under the cooling action of the mold 3.

The growth of this solidified material is also affected by the action of being washed and melted by the high temperature molten steel flow, and the growth stops when this is balanced with the cooling action of the mold 3, resulting in tongue-shaped solidified material as shown in Figure 2. form 5. However, in this case, if the drawing speed of the slab is slow, the molten steel flow is weakly shattered, and the tongue-shaped solidified material 5 grows large and is connected to the solidified/el 4 as shown in FIG. Therefore, the slab pulling force is applied to the entire solidified shell from the pouring nozzle tip 2a, and breaks at the weak connection point of the solidified shell. Then, new molten steel enters the fractured area,
A new solidified shell is formed, but since this new solidified shell is weak, it immediately breaks 1~, and molten steel enters the broken area, creating a new weak solidified shell. While this phenomenon is repeated, as the slab is pulled out, the fracture location is
The molten steel leaks outside, making casting impossible. On the other hand, if the drawing speed of the slab is fast, the growth of the tongue-shaped solidified material 5 will be hindered, but the solidified shell 4 will become weaker and there is a risk that the solidified shell 4 will break. The same phenomenon as in the above case is observed.

An embodiment of the apparatus of the present invention is constructed as described above, and the molten steel in the tundish 1 is poured from the pouring glove 2 into the mold 3, and is cooled from the inner surface of the mold 30 and solidifies and grows. Since the tongue-like solidified material 5 at the pouring glove tip 2a is heated by the heating means, cooling growth is prevented.
Connection with the solidified shell 4 is prevented. Therefore, there is no possibility that a phenomenon like the one proposed above will occur, and therefore, the molten steel will not flow out of the mold B and become uncastable, and the slab can be continuously drawn out.
