Conventionally, in order to improve storage stability from the time a pen is manufactured until it is used, a synthetic resin coating is formed on the tip of the nib that holds the ball. Cover and seal including the exposed ball part, and reduce the amount of ink evaporation from the tip part? known to prevent.

That is, in this method, a liquid prepared by dissolving a synthetic resin in an organic solvent is used for sealing, but ballpoint pens using water-based ink have poor compatibility with the liquid because the ball surface is wet with the water-based ink. Therefore, on the part of the ball wetted with ink, the synthetic resin is precipitated in the form of fluff, or numerous pinholes are formed, resulting in whitening and no continuous film is formed. This portion may fall off due to a small impact, making it impossible to obtain a sufficient sealing effect. In addition, the sealing effect varies widely,
The drawback is that ballpoint pens of uniform quality cannot be obtained. The present invention has been developed as a result of various studies to solve these drawbacks. By using a synthetic resin emulsion, it is possible to form a uniform synthetic resin coating that blends well with the ball part, completely sealing the tip of the pen tip and preventing ink from evaporating. It prevents weight loss and improves storage stability from manufacture to use in the hands of consumers, and the synthetic resin coating can be easily peeled off by applying pen pressure or by fingers, etc. We have discovered a pen nib sealing method suitable for water-based ballpoint pens.

The synthetic resin emulsion can be used by adding water as appropriate to adjust the viscosity in order to obtain a predetermined film thickness, or by adding a water-soluble resin solution such as polyvinyl alcohol to improve dispersion stability or workability. O Also, from the point of view of workability and economy, the minimum film forming temperature is 5℃.
The following are desirable. If the difference between the film forming temperature and the working temperature or drying temperature is 10° C. or less, the time required to dry the emulsion becomes long and the workability decreases. Also, the synthetic resin coating may become stained with ink.

Further, synthetic resin coatings made of polyolefin resin emulsions and polyvinylidene chloride emulsions are effective in suppressing ink evaporation, but their strength is low, so it is desirable to use them in double or more double layered layers.

Example 1 The tip of a water-based ballpoint pen was immersed in an acrylic emulsion (trade name: Movinyl 710 manufactured by Hoechst Synthesis) and pulled up, left at room temperature for 15 hours, and the emulsion adhering well to the tip was dried. A synthetic resin film was formed to seal the pen tip.
