An electromagnetic relay consists of a fixed electromagnetic core and a movable armature.
It has a structure in which when the windings are energized, they contact each other to relay electricity. Examples of typical electromagnetic cores are shown in Figures 1 and 2. As a material for manufacturing such a fixed electromagnetic core, so-called electromagnetic iron core SUYB or low carbon steel has conventionally been used depending on the characteristics required of the fixed electromagnetic core. To maintain practical magnetic properties, the material generally has a carbon content of 0.0
It is empirically known that the content of Mn is 5% by weight or less, and the content of S is 0.03% by weight or less. Electromagnetic iron core material SUYB, which is a typical low carbon soft iron material, contains about 0.005% by weight of carbon in addition to iron, and about 0.00% by weight of carbon.
.. Contains about 43% by weight of impurities such as silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur. Conventionally, electromagnetic cores have generally been produced through a wire drawing process of the hot-rolled material described above from its strand diameter to a predetermined diameter, an annealing process, and then a forging process to form the head and boss part of the core. Furthermore, it is manufactured through a magnetic annealing process to maintain magnetic properties, and finally a surface treatment process (for example, copper plating, nickel plating).

In particular, when low-carbon electromagnetic soft iron material is used, the annealing process must be repeated five or more times to maintain practical magnetic properties, which increases the cost of the electromagnetic core. There are drawbacks.

In order to omit such a magnetic annealing step, it is necessary to remove strain in the annealing treatment during cold drawing. However, this strain removal not only deteriorates the electromagnetic properties but also causes coarsening of ferrite crystal grains, which leads to a decrease in forging performance and a decrease in plating performance, making it difficult to implement the strain removal process.
On the other hand, low-carbon steel is a low-cost material and shortens the cold drawing process, but requires decarburization in the annealing process to maintain magnetic properties.

Here, in manufacturing the electromagnetic core, instead of electromagnetic iron core material or low carbon steel material, a material with a higher carbon content (
By using ultra-soft steel, a low-cost material with low impurities (about 0.01% by weight or less) and low impurities (0.31% by weight or less), it is possible to significantly shorten the wire drawing process and omit the annealing process (magnetic annealing). Therefore, it has been found that manufacturing costs can be significantly improved.

It has also been discovered that by using such extremely mild steel as a material and carrying out the prescribed operating process, it is possible to produce an electromagnetic core that has magnetic properties that are comparable to those made from conventional electromagnetic soft iron materials. . The manufacturing method of the electromagnetic core of the present invention involves cold drawing an extremely mild steel material at a predetermined working degree, subjecting the drawn wire to an annealing treatment, and finishing drawing the annealed wire at a predetermined working degree. This finished wire drawing (electromagnetic core) is forged into a desired shape, and if necessary, surface treatment is performed to form the electromagnetic core in the desired shape.

Annealing is performed by heating at 600-700°C for 3-8 hours and then air cooling from 550-650°C.
Particularly preferred annealing conditions are heating to 650°C for 5 hours,
It consists of cooling to 00°C at a rate of 17°C/hr for 3 hours and then air cooling from 600°C. 5 This annealing is a process performed to remove the strain received during the cold wire drawing process and facilitate the movement of domain walls.

This four-wire finish drawing is necessary to reduce residual strain, and is carried out at a processing degree of 10% or less, preferably 8% or less. If the degree of processing is higher than 10%, the strain will be large and the electromagnetic properties will deteriorate.

This means that if ultra-soft steel is used in place of the conventional electromagnetic core material, the properties of the electromagnetic core can be comparable to or even better than those of the conventional method, even without the magnetic annealing process of the conventional method. This shows that an electromagnetic core can be manufactured. Furthermore, it has been found that according to the method of the present invention, the manufacturing cost can be significantly improved (about 40% cost reduction) by significantly shortening the wire drawing process and omitting the annealing (magnetic annealing) process. The above-described electromagnetic core according to the present invention is usually manufactured by forging into a desired shape as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.

The head part 2 and the boss part 4 are formed by forging with a processing degree of less than 20%. A processing degree higher than this is not desirable because it causes distortion in the shaft portion and affects the electromagnetic characteristics. The electromagnetic core that has been forged into a desired shape is subjected to surface treatment as necessary.

The measurement was carried out using a commercially available DC magnetization measuring device. The results are shown in FIG. It can be seen that the electromagnetic core A of the present invention has a magnetizing force equivalent to that of the core from SUYB. Moreover, the iron core B, which has a small degree of cold wire drawing, has a small magnetizing force.
