Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a Pt alloy for accessories with extremely superior workability, mechanical strength and sweat resistance by adding a proper amount of Au to Pt. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of 80-98wt% Pt and 2-20wt% Au is subjected to soln. heat treatment by heating to about 1,300 deg.C in the alpha range and rapid cooling, and by aging the alloy at a suitable temp. such as about 700 deg.C, age hardenability is produced to obtain a Pt alloy for accessories. The reason for said restricted composition is that Au improves hardly the hardness and deteriorates the workability when added by <2% and >20%, respectively. The improved Pt alloy is suitable for use as a material for a ring, a necklace, a brooch, a tiepin, cuff buttons, a watch frame, a watchband, a lighter, writing goods, the frame of spectacles, an earring, etc.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] The present invention relates to rings, necklaces, brooches, tie pins,
This invention relates to the improvement of platinum alloys used as materials for cufflinks, watch frames, watch bands, lighters, writing utensils, eyeglass frames, earrings, etc.

従来、上述の如き装飾品材料としては白金パラシウム(

Conventionally, platinum palladium (
5-15% by weight) thread alloys are often used.

This alloy has excellent workability and castability, but because of its low mechanical strength and particularly low hardness, it is easily scratched and stamped during polishing, and is difficult to produce a gloss, and is difficult to use as a finished product. In the case of rings with jewels, tin tends to stick to them, and in the case of rings with jewels, the part that holds the jewels in place loosens and the jewels fall off.

The present invention has been made in order to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks, and aims to provide a platinum alloy for ornaments that has excellent mechanical strength and workability.

The platinum alloy for ornaments according to the present invention has age hardening properties and is composed of 80 to 98% by weight of platinum and 2 to 20% by weight of gold.

The reason why gold is added to the platinum alloy for ornaments according to the present invention is that, as is clear from the binary phase diagram of Pt-Au, Pt-Au separates into two phases at temperatures below 1250°C. This is because, after performing a solution treatment of heating to the alpha region of 1300°C and rapidly cooling, it exhibits remarkable age hardening properties when aged at an appropriate temperature.

This is because if the amount added is less than 2% by weight, there is almost no improvement in hardness, and if it exceeds 20% by weight, workability deteriorates.

Also, Example No. 1 in Table 1. After solution treatment at 1300°C for No. 2, aging treatment was performed at temperatures of 700°C and 800°C, and the relationship between the hardness and aging time was measured. As shown in the figure, the results showed that the aging treatment significantly increased the hardness. I got it.
