Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent incorrect discrimination from occurring due to a operator error and to enhance operability, by moving an automatically set printing medium to a discriminating position, in a printer for a passbook, a bond or the like. CONSTITUTION:When the printing medium MED is set on the printer by the operator and is detected by a photosensor PS1, a main controlling part 5 turns a belt by a drive-controlling part 9, and when the medium MED introduced reaches a point (a), a timer 10 is set by a signal from a sensor PS3. According to presence/absence signals from sensors PS2-PS4 at a point (b) constituting a time position, a discriminating circuit 6 discriminates, and a discrimination signal and checking data from a memory circuit 8 are compared with each other by a comparing circuit 7, thereby checking whether the medium MED is the one to be printed. Accordingly, misdiscrimination is prevented from occurring due to a operator error, the operator is relieved of operation, and the kind of medium can be accurately discriminated.

Conventionally, as an identification/inspection (judgment) device for this type of media,
Taking a printing device as an example, after setting the printing medium in the identification execution section of the printing device, the operator inputs that it is securely set, and the state of the printing medium at that point is detected. Furthermore, by moving the print medium and identifying the type of print medium based on the change in the signal detected earlier, this job-specific data and the type of print medium set earlier by the operator are identified and input. An apparatus has been proposed that inspects the printing medium by comparing the identification data with the identification data. However, since the print medium identification in this device is performed based on the state in which the print medium is inserted by the operator, it is possible for the operator to misidentify the print medium due to an operational error such as a mistake in setting the print medium. In addition, when inspecting print media, the operator must identify and input the type of print media set, which increases inspection time and worsens operator operability. There was a drawback.

When the sucked print medium MED reaches point a, it is detected by the photosensor PS3, and the detection signal is amplified by the signal amplifier 3 and applied to the timer IO and the identification circuit 6. Timer 10i1. , is activated by the output of the detection signal of this photosensor PS3, and b in FIG. 3 where the printing medium MED being sucked reaches the medium position shown in FIG. 1.
At the estimated time when the point is reached, a count end signal is output, and this output signal is applied to the identification circuit 6. Furthermore, the detection signals of the photosensors PS2 and PS4 are also amplified by the signal amplifier 2 and the signal amplifier 4, respectively, and are applied to the identification circuit 6. Here, the identification circuit 6 detects the photosensors PS2, PS3, and PS4 at the time when the output signal of the timer 10 is obtained.
Based on the presence or absence of the detection signal, the print medium MED is identified in the same manner as described above with reference to FIG. 1, and the identification signal is transmitted to the comparison circuit 7.

Here, the comparator circuit 7 compares the identification signal of the identification circuit 6 with inspection data regarding medium identification, which is taken out from the storage device 8 and is defined uniquely to the printing device. The main control section 5 determines whether the identification data of the identification circuit 6 and the test data stored in the storage device 8 match based on the comparison signal applied from the comparison circuit 7 according to its program operation. It is possible to check whether or not the set print medium MED is the print medium to be subjected to the printing process.

In this embodiment, the timer 10 is used to estimate that the moved printing medium has reached point b shown in FIG. By amplifying the signal and adding it to the identification circuit 6, it is possible to identify the print medium in the same way as described above without using the timer 10. In addition, in FIG. 3, the comparison circuit 7 is removed, the output signal from the identification circuit 6 is added to the main control section 5, and the output signal of the identification circuit 6 and the storage device 8 are stored by the program operation of the main control section 5'. It is also possible to perform the above-mentioned inspection of the print medium by comparing the detection data with the detection data that has been used.

As explained above, in the present invention, in identifying a medium,
By moving the identification execution position away from the media set position and automatically moving the set print media to this identification depth position, it is possible to prevent erroneous identification due to operator operation, and reduce operator time required for media identification. Reduce operations 1. −
This has the effect of accurately identifying the type of media set in the storage handling device. In addition, when inspecting a medium, comparing identification data identifying the type of medium with already prepared inspection data has the effect of shortening the inspection time and improving operability for the operator.
