    【実用新案登録請求の範囲】
  1. コンバータケースと、該コンバータケースに保持される
    モノリス触媒とから構成され、内燃機関の排気系に取付
    けられる触媒コンバータにおいて、前記モノリス触媒を
    二分割として前記コンバータケース内の入口側と出口側
    に間隔をおいて配設し、該入口側のモノリス触媒と出口
    側のモノリス触媒との間の室を前記排気系の上流側と連
    通して入口側モノリス触媒をバイパスするバイパス通路
    を設け、該バイパス通路に該バイパス通路を開閉する開
    閉弁を設けたことを特徴とする触媒コン
