Abstract

PURPOSE:An injurious insect repellent, containing a specific phenol as an active constituent, capable of exhibiting repellent effect even in a very small amount, paricularly powerful repellent effect on cockroaches, mites and ants, and effective against sanitary injuirious insects and unpleasant injurious insects, e.g. flies, cockroaches and ants. CONSTITUTION:An injurious insect repellent containing one or more phenols expressed the formula [R is >=6C alkyl, (lower alkyl-substituted) phenyl or cyclohexyl], e.g. p-phenylphenol, p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phenol or o-cyclohexylphenol, as an active constituent. The above-mentioned compound is directly used or dissolved, dispersed or emulsified in a solvent, and the resultant solution, dispersion or emulsion is sprayed or applied. A carrier or adjuvant may be added thereof if necessary, and formulated into a suitable dosage form for used. The amount of the active constituent to be used is preferably 0.01-10mg/cm<2> on the surface in case a repellent zone, etc. is formed usually by coating, etc.
