Metal halide lamps, in which a small amount of metal iodide is sealed together with mercury and rare gases inside a quartz arc tube, have poor luminous efficiency and color rendering properties, but a heat insulating film is placed at the end of the arc tube, which is the coldest part of the arc tube. A method is generally adopted in which the metal iodide is sufficiently evaporated.

A method has been explored in which a white paint mixed with a binder such as shelf silicate glass powder, sodium silicate powder, or shelf acid is applied to a fine white powder such as i02, and then heated to a high temperature to make it stick. was. (For example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 52-11!9483, etc.). However, shelf silicate glass... Alternatively, when a binder containing shelf elements such as shelf acid is used to light up a discharge lamp, the shelf elements diffuse into the quartz arc tube and react with it, causing devitrification or cracking.
Furthermore, although sodium oxalate has excellent binding properties as it is known as the main component of water glass, sodium diffuses into the quartz arc tube and reacts with it, causing devitrification or cracks. Therefore, a method was sought to suppress the reaction with the quartz arc tube as much as possible by adding a small amount of binder, but the binding property was also reduced and SI was unavoidable. The present invention was made in order to solve the above-mentioned problem, and involves adding a heat-resistant white powder that does not react with quartz to the end of the arc tube, and a pig solution of a metal oxide that does not react with quartz as a binder. A white paint is applied, and by applying it while heating the end of the pipe, a heat-retaining film with excellent heat retention, binding properties, and chemical stability is formed. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a metal vapor discharge lamp.

As is well known, pig substance solution is made by dispersing 1 to 100 Buddha particles in the solution. In the pig substance solution of metal oxide, many particles are negatively charged and are quickly attached to the surface of other substances. It acts as an adsorbent and also fixes other substances, and has excellent binding properties.

Therefore, among these winning solutions, a white paint using as a binder a pig substance solution in which particles that do not react with the quartz of the arc tube are dispersed becomes an excellent heat-retaining film for metal vapor discharge lamps. below,
The present invention will be explained in detail with reference to examples.

The hydrogen index (pH) of this pork matter solution is 2.5 to 6, and the alumina particles have an extremely high positive charge and have the effect of adsorbing and fixing other particles. The alumina content in the Katsushi solution is about 10% (weight ratio). The white paint was manufactured by first adding the required amount of zirconium oxide with an average powder diameter of 5 mm as a heat-resistant white powder, the required amount of alumina sol, and mixing them with water to make a white coating amount.

According to the inventor's experiments, a good product suitable for a heat-retaining film was obtained over a very wide range of mixing ratios of zirconium oxide, alumina sol, and water. The range confirmed in the experiment was as follows, assuming zirconium oxide as 100 yen.

In order to apply crack-free coating, it is necessary to dry the coated area from the inside, and to accomplish this, the above white paint was sprayed while the tube end was heated with a burner to approximately 100 qo or more. As a result, it was confirmed that the sprayed paint dries at the same time as it is sprayed, and that even if it forms a heat-retaining film as thick as one skin, it has excellent adhesion and binding properties with no visible cracks. . The heat insulating film thus obtained is made of zirconium oxide and alumina, both of which are heat resistant and do not react with the arc tube quartz even at high temperatures. Although the above example shows a method of coating while heating with a burner, heating may be performed by a heater, or heating may be performed by lighting a heat generating tube at low input.

The silica particles have a siloxane structure and are negatively charged, the hydrogen index (pH) of the pork matter solution is 9 to 10, and the content of silicic anhydride is about 20% by weight. Since it has a silanol group on the surface of the siloxane bond and is negatively charged, its binding value for adsorbing and fixing other particles is extremely strong. In the experiment, a white paint was made with the following mixing ratio.

It took 50 to 500 minutes to apply the white paint to the quartz arc tube by spraying it while heating the end of the arc tube, as described above, and was able to create a heat-retaining film with good cohesion and no cracks. The heat-retaining film thus obtained is made of zirconium oxide and silica, and does not react with quartz even at high temperatures, making it a good heat-retaining film. As explained above, according to the present invention, a heat-retaining film for an arc tube of a metal vapor discharge lamp is formed by applying a white paint using a heat-resistant white powder and a pig substance solution of a metal oxide as a binder while heating. showed that.
