    【実用新案登録請求の範囲】
  1. 予め認識対象文字の記入位置を指定する文字枠が所定の
    位置に書かれた帳票を読取る読取手段と、前記読取手段
    により得られた読取画像に基いて文字枠内に記入された
    文字、記号を認識する認識手段とを備えた文字認識装置
    であって、前記読取画像を直交する２方向に投影して得
    られた画像分布に基づいて前記帳票上に書かれた文字枠
    の位置を検出する手段と、前記検出された文字枠内に記
    入される認識対象文字に関する情報を入力する入力手段
    と、前記検出された文字枠の位置情報と前記入力された
    当該文字枠内に記入される認識対象文字に関する情報を
    、帳票フォーマット情報として格納する手段とを備え、
    前記格納手段に格納された帳票フォーマット情報に基い
    て文字の認識を行なうよう構成されてなる文字認識装置
    。
