Claims

A take-up shaft for winding the webbing for occupant restraint; a locking mechanism consisting of a pawl and a ratchet wheel arranged to prevent the take-up shaft from rotating in the webbing unwinding direction when the webbing is attached to the passenger; winding diameter sensing means for holding the locking mechanism in the unlocked position when a predetermined amount of the pole has been wound up; a spring member that assumes a second position that enables locking of the pole in response to rotational force in the position and webbing winding direction; and a turning angle that restricts the spring member to be able to turn only between the first position and the second position. A webbing take-up device comprising: a regulating means; and a regulating means provided on the spring member to prevent the pawl from contacting the tooth bottom of the ratchet wheel in the locked state.
